Dear Friends,

We have decided to take this school year (2010 - 2011) and move our family to Uganda. You may be asking, ”Why in the world would you want to do that?” , or maybe “Good for you! Enjoy the mosquitoes.” Regardles, we would like to share with you a little about Uganda, our mission while there, give you a little vision and let you see our hearts; and then we want to ask you to partner with us.

We have had several brushes with Uganda over the last 20 years; we have met several Ugandan ministers and their wives who have traveled to Nashville to raise awareness for their ministries. We have always been impacted by these great men and women that serve daily to see their country healed of the devastation that war and disease have wrought, but also their greater desire to see Jesus' name lifted and glorified.

The truth is that Uganda has been decimated by the AIDS virus. It is also one of the most fertile of countries in the world with the average woman having 7 babies; they also have an high infant mortality rate of 78 in every 1000 births. The population that has survived the AIDS virus is either the very young or the very old. This leaves much of the population unable to care for themselves. The term child-parent is very real in Uganda and, the number of parentless children in Uganda is uncountable. The government, while trying to encourage safe sex and the new idea of ‘one-partner’ to the continent of Africa, has slowed the infection rate. That rate was once at 30% for pregnant women, but still hovers around 15%.

We want to put feet to the command to “Feed My Sheep”.  We want to make a difference in the lives of children, particularly AIDS orphans. We do not know what the long term may look like for us in Uganda, although we are open to what God may open up for us. In the short-term we are committed to loving children there that need care. We know that our family can change the lives of a few Ugandans, but we are not naïve about one thing; We will be changed, and we know our children will be changed.

“Why now?” Good question. Our children are very swiftly leaving our nest and this upcoming school year is the last window we see to making this happen for us as a group.

Here is what we are asking of you: We need our fuel tank filled. We need our community of friends to support us with their encouragement, prayers and finances.

The support we have felt from our friends has been tremendous. We have been 'riding the wave' of that support. We need that support to continue. So when you think of us, write us a note on facebook, via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or with actual pen and paper. However you communicate, we will be grateful.

Please continue pray for us!!! We have taken a step that a year ago we could not have imagined and though we feel strongly about it, we are unsure of the what this trip will bring us. I hope is ok to say that we are somewhat fearful, because it is the truth. But, though we are scared, our desire to serve compels us to move forward.

And lastly, if you feel  prompted to give to this huge endeavor financially, we won’t turn you down. It will take a large sum of money to see this accomplished. We ultimately are trusting God to be the provider of the resources to make this whole thing possible. So please don't feel pressure from us, but if you think this is something you would like to support please click the link below
