We have a family of eight. There is Renee and I and six children.

Nathan is our eldest and is not going with us to Uganda. He has his own, unique, Nathan-path. He has been interested in Japanese culture for a few years. Nathan has studied the language in college and next year will be attending school in Nagoya, Japan. He is taking part in the ‘study abroad’ program at Middle Tennessee State University to do this. (No, it’s not the ‘study a broad’ program). We will miss him, but we’re thrilled for him. We think everyone should take the chance to study abroad. It doesn’t cost much more than your stateside college and you can choose a destination where you’ve always wanted to go.

Jon is our 2nd child and will also not be going with us to Uganda. He too has his own path. After taking a year off school, he will be starting his freshman year at MTSU. He’ll be renting an apartment in Murfreesboro. We don’t know his new location or roommate situation at this time, but he will be on his own like he has never been before.

Sam (3rd) is coming with us, but will only be spending half a year in Uganda. Sam is highly involved in Lacrosse. A lovely sport. In Lacrosse, boys chase a ball and hit each other with sticks. Sam will be introducing boys in Uganda to Lacrosse but will also come back to Franklin in January to help lead his team to total domination. We are talking with a dear family about them housing Sam for the spring. We haven’t told them of his love of knife throwing yet.

Sweet Margaret Ruth (4th), Jed (5th), and Rachel (finale) will be staying with us the entire time.

Sam and Margaret Ruth will be attending National High School. NHS is an online, SACS accredited school and will be good for them, we think.

Renee will be home (Uganda?) schooling Jed and Rachel. Although we’re kinda thinking that being in Uganda will be its own education so we won’t be too rough on them in the coming year.

So, while the Ives will be spread out this year, we feel taken care of. He is faithful.

We don't know our address in Uganda yet (it is in Kampala), but when we do, we'll post it for you.

We do know our flight times!
